Grades
Anything that goes into the gradebook will have the points earned/point total in a circle or a CG (completion grade) in a circle on the assignment. Spelling tests will have a letter grade on it.
Most of our assignments our in our notebooks and will be labeled as such on TeacherEase. Notebooks usually stay at school, so if you have a question about a notebook grade, just send Mrs. Upp a Dojo message.
Students should read 20 minutes a day for their weekly reading logs. Reading logs will be sent home on Fridays so you have the weekend to review it with your student. Class time will not be given for this assignment, however if students finish classwork early they may work on this assignment in class.
Assessments
Spelling tests are on Fridays, unless otherwise stated on the weekly list. Lists will be given out on the Friday before as we will have a pretest on Mondays.
Vocabulary assessments are on Thursdays.
Math assessments will be announced on Dojo two days prior.
Communication
Blue Folders need to come to school every day. Students have an unfinished work board at school. Anything that is not done, students are to give to Mrs. Upp to put on their board so it goes home in their folder. Students will have time on Fridays for unfinished work from the week. Anything on their board that is not an assessment will go home every day and be returned to their board the next day until it is completed.
There is a monthly calendar in the front of each blue take home folder. This calendar will dictate how well students follow expectations daily. Each student has a strand of beads at their desk. If they hold onto all of their beads during the day, then their calendar will have a star on it for the day. Beads are removed when expectations are not being followed. They can earn beads back during the day. Students will earn weekly points based on how many stars or smileys they have on their calendar and whether or not they are completing their work. Students can trade in their points for desk pets. There are 5 points possible per full week of school.
Weekly newsletters for what we did that week in class and events coming up will be in the back of their blue folder.
Grades will be updated on TeacherEase so be sure to check that weekly. I will provide a paper copy of grades in the middle of the trimester, at the end of the trimester, and upon request.
Always feel free to Dojo me (quickest way to get in contact), email me (cupp@og68.org), and you can even call me directly!
