Since technology affects every industry in the world, CCA offers opportunities for our students to be engaged in some aspects of computer science through our annual code week program. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Projections, computing occupations make up 67% of all new jobs in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields(STEM). Additionally, many job openings in the U.S. offer occupations that desire employees with coding skills. In view of the many different aspects of computer science and stem, we want to offer several options for our students. We created activity stations, such as programming a micro:bit device, creating vibrobots with toothbrushes and pager motors, paper circuits with LEDs and copper tape, lego algorithms, and more. This code week was geared to have something for everyone to enjoy, be challenged, creative, and have fun.
