In celebration of Veterans Day, art students in grades 7 through 12 participated in a meaningful, creative learning experience. The project began with students learning about the significance of the holiday and the service of our veterans.
Following this discussion, students engaged in a step-by-step acrylic painting project, providing an opportunity for artistic expression while connecting to the themes of remembrance and patriotism.
7th Grade Students: Focused on landscapes inspired by the American flag. These paintings incorporated the colors and motifs of the flag into scenic compositions, symbolizing the nation our veterans protect.
9th-12th Grade Students: Created poppy flower paintings. The poppy is a globally recognized symbol of remembrance, particularly associated with WWI and Veterans Day. Each student was encouraged to give their painting a personal touch, resulting in a diverse and heartfelt collection of works that honor those who have served.
This project combined historical education with artistic skill development, allowing students to visually express their gratitude and understanding of Veterans Day.
