We will be reading "The Hunger Games" and completing an interactive journal. We will also be doing some class discussions and some other fun activities (examples: word search, crossword, "Name That Character", "Would You Rather?")

Journal entries based upon "The Hunger Games" with some creative writing, informative essay, writing in formal style, planning, revising, editing, rewriting

"The Hunger Games" reading and study guide--> due at the beginning of each reading class session
IXL F.1, P.1, and AA.1--> due one week after it has been assigned with a score of at least 90%

📖Novel Study: "Tuck Everlasting".
We will be reading "Tuck Everlasting" this quarter. Weekly assignments will average 2 to 3 chapters per week. We will have class discussions, games, and will be applying literary concepts to the novel.
📚Reading Concepts: Analyzing plot and flashback, analyzing character traits, determining the authors purpose and cite evidence, analyzing folktales, analyzing humor, analyzing graphic novels, analyzing conflict, analyzing mythical readings and determining themes.
💬Language Concepts: Punctuating dialogue, suffixes-able and ible, correlative conjunctions, commas, glossary, complex sentences, subjects, conjunctions, word origins, and subjects.
✍️Writing Concepts: Journal entries, good or bad influencers, critiquing, character analysis, informative essay, sketch note, and writing a short story.
