Health Sciences

Class overview

Health education is different than many other more traditional subjects in that the research and information needed to deliver the curriculum is constantly changing.  In an effort to be constantly up to date with current research and practices the health education teachers do not use set or "boxed curriculum".   Rather, for each specific topic we refer to best practices, reliable and current research, we attend trainings and refer to data related to our district and state to create lessons.

About me

Hi Everyone,

My name is Rebecca Place.  I'm so excited to be a part of your education at Frank Harrison Middle School!  I joined HMS in 2022.  Previously I taught for 9 years at the University of New England in the Applied Exercise Science program.  I also taught 4th and 5th grade students about exercise and nutrition to help increase their heart health.

I have two kids: Jaxon (9) and Reese (6).  My husband and I love to get outside and explore southern Maine. In the winter months we love to go to the Maine Mariners Hockey games.

I can't wait to teach you about your health!
