"In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have." - Marzano

First and foremost, I am a learner. The next logical step is teaching. Just as I want my future students to become self-actualized learners, I must also set clear and defined goals for myself on a continual basis so that by the end of each year, my students leave my classroom becoming lifelong learners whose passion for learning exceeds the classroom walls and the school building. I find this most successful through systematic inquiry, collaboration with other teachers and effective differentiation. This would ultimately provide a safe and positive learning environment in which students are engaged in the learning process through intrinsic motivation.
