Hi Families! My name is Stephenie Mosley and I will be your 4k teacher this year. This is my 15th year in education and I am so excited to be teaching 4k for the second year! I graduated from Columbia College in 2011 with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. In 2019, I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Master's Degree in Language, Literacy, and Culture. 

In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my family, reading, going to the gym,  hanging out by the pool, and trying new places to eat! I enjoy exercising and staying active. My favorite color is green. My favorite things to eat and drink are coffee, tacos, and sushi! 

Hi Families! 

This website will be our spot to send any important information such as schedules, lunch menus, important dates, and reminders. I will also send home a weekly homework sheet that will have all of the same information on it as well. 

For communication purposes, we will use an app called Seesaw. I will be sending information on how to connect in your child's folder. You will need to download this on your phone. You will be able to connect with our classroom and communicate any questions or concerns you may have. I try to respond quickly, but please allow until the end of the day for me to respond. If you happen to have a question after school hours, please allow until the next school day for me to respond.

• We will use Seesaw as our main form of communication. I will send home instructions on how to get registered on the first day of school. If you have any trouble, or any questions, please reach out to me. 

• Please allow until the next business day for me to respond. 99% of the time, I am able to respond fairly quickly, but there will be times when my responses may be delayed until the next day. 

• This is where I will push out weekly updates and any reminders.

• We will also have a monthly calendar that will stay in your child's red folder (which should come back and forth to school each day). This folder will communicate your child's daily behavior. 

• Typically we do NOT send red folders home on Friday. There might be an occasional Friday where we need to send information home in which case, red folders will be sent home then. 

• Change of Transportation: if your child will be going home a different way than usual, please send me a Seesaw message and call the front office and let them know. I don't always see my messages in time, so it's important that you notify both me and the front office just in case. 

Welcome, 4K Families!

Welcome to a brand-new school year! We are so excited to begin this journey with you and your child. Whether you start on Monday or Wednesday, we can't wait to meet our new students and welcome our families! 

This year will be filled with learning, laughter, friendships, and exciting discoveries. We are committed to creating a safe, caring, and fun environment where every child can grow and thrive.

As we get ready for the first day of school, I have one small request that will help everything go a little more smoothly.

Please send your child with a sticky note, index card, or small piece of paper that includes:

• Your child's name

• Room 107

• Mrs. Mosley

If your child is a car rider, you can hand it to them as they get out of the car or clip it to their shirt. If they ride the bus, please have them hold onto it or clip it on their shirt. This will help our staff quickly guide them to the correct classroom.

After the first day, I'll send home stickers for your child to wear during the rest of the first week to make finding our classroom even easier.

Announcements and Reminders:

• Please check your child's red folder nightly. There will be a good bit of information coming home over the next few days. 

• Please label all of your child's personal belongings with their names. This is very important! It is inevitable that items will get misplaced and having name labels ensures we get them back to the right owner. 

• Wednesday, August 19th: Fall Pictures

• Thursday, August 20th: Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. (You can eat at CFA and support Sugar Ridge!)

• Monday, August 31st: All About Me Posters Due! (Information will be coming home about this on your child's first day of school)

• Please send a blanket or a towel for nap time. Please make sure it is labeled with your child's name.

• If your 4K student has older siblings at SRE, you will ALWAYS pick-up all of your children and drop them off on the kindergarten side of the school. Even if your 4K child is absent, you will still use the kindergarten loop for older siblings.

Hi Families! 

What a great week we had in 4K! Students are starting to recognize their names, forming letters, hold the pencil correctly and learn our daily learning songs! I am super impressed with how well we are progressing!

🏡 Learning at Home: Little Things Make a BIG Difference!

Families, you don't need worksheets or special supplies to help your child practice the skills we are learning in 4K! Some of the best learning happens during everyday activities. ❤️

Try spending just 5–10 minutes each day practicing letters, numbers, counting, and writing through play!

🔤 Practice Letters

• Go on a letter hunt around the house.
• Look for letters on food boxes, signs, books, and toys.
• Pick a letter and see how many things you can find that start with that sound.
• Practice identifying the letters in your child's name.

🔢 Practice Numbers & Counting

• Count toys while cleaning up.
• Count snacks, steps, socks, or cars you see while driving.
• Look for numbers on clocks, houses, signs, and remotes.
• Roll a die and have your child count the dots. Then collect that many toys or objects!

✏️ Practice Writing

Writing doesn't always have to mean sitting down with a pencil! Try:
• Writing with chalk outside
• Tracing letters in sand or rice
• Making letters with Play-Doh
• Drawing and coloring
• Practicing letters with crayons, markers, or pencils
• Cutting and gluing to help strengthen those little hand muscles

❤️ Practice Their Name

Name writing is an important skill in 4K! Encourage your child to:
• Recognize their name
• Identify the letters in their name
• Say the letters in order
• Build their name with magnetic letters or letter tiles
• Trace their name
• Practice writing their name independently

📚 Read, Read, Read!

Try to read together every day, even if it's just one book. Ask questions about the pictures, characters, and story. You can also point out letters and numbers you recognize as you read.

⭐ Remember...

Learning at this age should be FUN! Don't worry about perfection. Children learn through play, repetition, and encouragement. Even 5–10 minutes a day can make a BIG difference!
