About Me

Hi! Since we are going to be working together this year, I thought it would be nice to introduce myself.

My name is Mrs. Laura McWright, and I am...well...my two boys are trained to say that I am 29 years old, and my daughter only counts to 19, so take your pick :) My husband, David, and I both grew up in Meadville. I even attended Seton School. I also taught here for three years when I first graduated from college in 2000. (I had Mrs. Egan's son in my class!)

I also taught for a cyber school for a couple of years, but I decided to stay home when my first child, Brennen, was born in 2005. Elliot, was born in 2007, and is attending Seton in the 6th grade.

I began homeschooling my boys when they reached school age. We have been attending a homeschool cooperative on a regular basis where I have enjoyed teaching students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

In 2016, we were introduced to our daughter, Ryleigh. She keeps us on our toes and adds adventure to our lives!

I love to be active! I played soccer all through elementary and high school, and I even played for IUP my freshman year. However, while in college, I decided to try something new and started playing ice hockey and rugby! Since my body will no longer take that kind of punishment, I now prefer long distance running (I ran a marathon in 2004) and triathlons.

My favorite vocal artist is Mandisa, and her songs have gotten me through a few challenges that I overcame in recent years. I still find inspiration in her music so, if you haven't heard her sing, be prepared to become familiar with her this year. As I mentioned in the email that went to families this summer, I love to sing and dance though I don't do either one well.

In general, I like to have fun! I am looking forward to sharing the middle school journey with you, and I hope you are open to sharing your fun with me, too!
