At Explore Academy K-5, our gifted program is designed to challenge, inspire, and support advanced learners as they navigate our unique, choice-driven curriculum. We focus on expanding critical thinking, fostering creative problem-solving, and deepening conceptual understanding through engaging, project-based learning and inquiry.

Throughout the year, students will tackle advanced units, explore real-world challenges, and take ownership of their learning journey as they grow into curious, independent thinkers.

Welcome to our gifted learning community! At Explore Academy K-5, our program is designed to challenge, inspire, and support advanced learners as they navigate our inquiry-driven curriculum. We focus on expanding critical thinking, fostering creative problem-solving, and deepening conceptual understanding through interactive, project-based learning.

Throughout the year, students act as historians, scientists, and detectives as they keep comprehensive Case File Binders to document their thinking, writing, investigations, and growth!

⛏️ Grades 1–3: The Gold Rush Files

Theme: Historians • Explorers • Problem Solvers

Driving Question: Why did people risk everything to move west, and was it worth it?

Throughout the year, our 1st–3rd grade investigators step back into the 1840s! Using Project GLAD strategies (Pictorial Input Charts, Cognitive Content Dictionaries, Process Grids), leveled reading seminars, and hands-on STEM challenges, students analyze the human, economic, and environmental impacts of Westward Expansion.

🧬 Grades 4–5: The Genetics Files

Theme: Scientists • Detectives • Innovators

Driving Question: How does DNA make every living thing unique?

Our 4th–5th grade geneticists unlock the microscopic blueprints of life! Through interactive lab simulations, ethical debates, and crime-scene investigations, students explore how genetic instructions shape living organisms and modern technology.
