I am Kind! I am Respectful! I am Productive!
It's the Wrightstown Tiger Way!
Classroom expectations will be much of our focus the first few weeks of school. We will have many discussions, modeling, and practice of these expectations. The students will be involved in brainstorming expectations that will help our classroom run smoothly. With practice, things become routine. That is the idea with our classroom expectations. We will be practicing them over and over so they are second nature. Hopefully, during the first few weeks of school, your child will share with you the fun things we are doing to practice these!
Students will fill in their assignment notebooks at the end of each day. This will be the best indicator of what homework students have each night. For most weeks, there will be a Math Home Connection sheet that will be assigned and then due a FEW days later. Students will also be encouraged to read 20 minutes a night, 4 days a week and also practice their math facts 4 nights a week. There will be a slip of paper that goes home weekly for students to log this.
ASSIGNMENT NOTEBOOK- Please make it a nightly routine to look over and discuss any assignments or notes written in your child's assignment notebook and sign/initial indicating you have done this.
We have a time set aside each day for snack. Students are encouraged to pack a healthy snack and a water bottle each day.
We will start off each day with a class morning meeting. We will use this time to build community within our classroom and may also use it as a tool for some of our "class/student problems". Students will learn about choices (Wheel of Choice) they can make when a "student problem" occurs and different strategies they can use to help solve these problems. Together, students discuss and learn how to solve many of their own problems.
Students are welcome to bring in birthday treats to celebrate their special day. For planning purposes we have 22 students in our class Students with summer birthdays are welcome to celebrate their 1/2 birthdays or pick a day closer to their "real" birthday. Please keep Mrs. Kommes in the loop so she can plan accordingly.
Please note-We ask that you do not pass out birthday party invites at school unless the whole class is invited.
ParentSquare will be a main form of communication between school and home. I will use this platform to send out weekly newsletters and messages to keep communication open between school and home. I highly encourage parents to download the app.
