Y'all... I never wanted to be a teacher... until I became a paraprofessional. Fast forward a few years... I decided I wanted to be a teacher, finished my classes in less than 18 months, and started teaching shortly after. It's amazing... but it's hard. There's very little funding... so everything comes out of pocket. It's important to find deals, apply for grants, and use resources to help get the things my students need and require.
I teach Special Education grades K-3. I research continuously to find ways to help my students. I have attended some amazing trainings in the past two years. I continue to learn daily.
I'm super interested in the Science of Reading and learning all I can to help ALL students, but especially opening doors for those with learning difficulties and/or dyslexia. I am currently beginning LETRS training, which I was able to receive due to a scholarship from our local RPDC.
I have been blessed with supportive family and friends who love to donate things to my classroom, building, district, trainings, etc.
