Ceramic 1

This beginning course is designed to introduce the study of ceramic art. Emphasis will focus on ceramic techniques in hand-building. Students will practice, explore, and devote time to hand building techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab. Students will learn to recycle clay, glaze, underglaze, and load the kiln. Students will create 3-dimensional forms out of clay that range from simple to complex and small to large. Students will also be introduced to basic art critiquing skills and proper art terminology. They will learn about art history and techniques used throughout time. 

PREREQUISITE: Art 1 and Instructor approval.
