Hi all! In case you didn't already know, I grew up in a small town in southern Minnesota with my three younger siblings- Braeden, Brody, and Brilee.
I played volleyball and basketball and ran track and cross country in high school. In the summers, I loved to help Donavon (who is now my husband ☺) groom, walk, and train sheep for the county fair.
After high school, we went to Winona State University where I studied elementary education, early childhood education, coaching, and Spanish. In February of 2017 I traveled to Kenya where I first safaried like a tourist and then taught and observed three different schools: Spring Valley school in slums of Kayole, Parklands Baptist private school, and Viraj International Academy which taught Montessori, British (CAIE), and Kenyan public curriculum.
While in college I drove across the Minnesota boarder to Wisconsin to coach volleyball and track. This is the same school that I student taught second graders!
After I graduated college in 2018, I took my first teaching job in Spring Grove, MN teaching fifth grade.
In the summer of 2019 I traveled with my high school Spanish club for a trip around España. It was a wonderful vacation exploring Spanish culture!
After returning from Spain, we moved to San Diego, CA so that my husband could work as a golf and lacrosse shaft design engineer. He absolutely loves his job! In the fall of 2019 I took the position of teaching first grade at Borrego Springs Elementary.
When we were sent home in March because of COVID-19, I took advantage of the extra time at home (not being spent driving an hour to school each day ☺) to get my masters online from Western Governors University in Special Education. That is why I will be able to serve as your Resource Teacher this coming school year! I am very excited for this position to be able to provide the tools and modifications that all students need to be successful at school. Please let me know how I can help you (students) or your child (parents) this school year! I am here for you.
