Mrs. Irby's Class
Economics and Personal Finance and American History
Class Overview
Economics and Personal Finance: As your kids can tell you, Economics and Personal Finance is where my passion lives. I would switch my middle name to "gross domestic product" if I weren't so averse to paperwork.
In this class, your student will learn how to adult in the best of ways -- all the ways we wish that we could have learned in school. From taxes and mortgages, to budgeting and retirement savings, we cover it all and have fun learning it!
American History: In this class, we explore history through various perspectives and activities. With a focus on local history, looking outward, we try to celebrate our own sense of place and how we fit into history as it's happening.
This class often becomes a study in current events, because history tends to repeat and reinvent itself. Drawing common themes in what students are experiencing now can reinforce the lessons of the past. Students love seeing their own experience reflected back to them in our stories of the past.
