As a state-endorsed ESOL educator, I provide tailored support for students learning English as an additional Language. Support in English language acquisition goes beyond grammar and speaking; it includes building the confidence a student needs to participate in class, improve vocabulary, and maintain grade level reading and writing goals. English language learning is a unique experience for every individual, please fill out the contact form to discuss how I can best support your student.
Students who are looking to strengthen, or challenge, their skills in reading fluency, vocabulary, or comprehension can benefit from regular, dedicated practice.
Reading services may support students with:
Decoding and word recognition: Builds a strong foundation for early readers.
Comprehension: Moving beyond reading the words to truly understand the reading.
Fluency: Helping students read with speed, accuracy, and voice.
Motivation / Confidence: Turning "I can't read" into "I have tools to figure this out".
Learning differences
Often times in education, students are pushed from one math topic to the next, and the skills they are trying to learn are abandoned. Math skills are often directly tied to confidence within the subject, or even boredom if the student has surpassed that skill.
In Mrs. Grant's Learning Center, we look to help students grow and expand their math skills through
Dedicated, regular practice of math foundational skills
Problem Solving
Concept Clarity
Gamification of math
Regular reporting on students abilities within their grade level standards
Writing is a common road block for many students; often feeling daunting, exhausting, or boring.
Students given the opportunity to practice in a designated safe space will flourish in the writing process. Writing services may help students who:
Struggle with grammar, formatting, or sentence structure
Find classroom writing boring, or struggle to get started
Love and/or are gifted in writing and looking to have their skills challenged and expanded
