About the Teacher

Welcome to Room 209!

My name is Becky Ferraro and I am a fifth grade teacher here at Frenchtown Elementary School. I began teaching at Frenchtown in the 2006-2007 school year as a student teacher, and stayed for an extra few months covering a leave of absence in 5th grade. Following this position, I finished a full 5th grade year at Daniels Farm School. This will be my tenth year of teaching, and I am so excited to begin! My mission for the class is to create a safe, fun, and caring learning environment for my students. My philosophy is to have a student centered learning environment where children can develop into lifelong learners.

My Family

I am a graduate of the University of Bridgeport with my BS in Psychology and Human Services and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I was born in Colombia, South America and was raised in New Jersey by the beach. This summer, I celebrated my third wedding anniversary with my husband Michael and enjoyed my third summer as a mom to our first child, Anthony Michael. In addition, we were lucky enough to welcome another son, Joseph in May! Every day I count my blessings to have such a wonderful family!

University of Bridgeport

I love gymnastics, so the Summer Olympics were so exciting for me. I hope you enjoyed them as well. I am currently coaching the gymnastics team at the University of Bridgeport, where I competed as a college athlete. Our team has won SIX National titles in a row now! This past season, we came in second place in the country and are excited to shoot for the top this year! We have several competitions at home right here in Bridgeport. Several students have enjoyed watching our competitions! I have a true passion and appreciation for athletics.

Mr. Riley

Alex Riley came to Frenchtown last year as a student teacher of mine. He loved the culture in our classroom and Frenchtown Elementary so much that he ended up returning to the classroom and working as a long term substitute for me as I took my maternity leave with baby Joseph.

Mr. Riley will continue to work in our classroom as a long term substitute in the 2017-2018 school year. He can be reached at ARiley@trumbullps.org
