ANDERSON 5/ AIT COVID-19 POLICIES
AM tardy bell will ring at ______ pm _____
Students will place cell phones on silent and place in designated/assigned phone holder. (This is how I will take attendance)
Students will sit at assigned seat with fully charged Chromebook, and immediately begin STAT starters. (Google Classroom) This is also a method for taking attendance). STAT starts are due on the day they are assigned unless student is absent. These ARE NOT accepted late. Responses will count as a comprehensive grade for the quarter.
A daily agenda/ assignment will be posted for students to see on GCR and most times on the whiteboard. Students are expected to move to the next activity without prompting. Students coming in from different schools will stagger in arrival times- all students are expected to immediately begin assignments or work on projects until prompted to learn as a class. STAT starters will take a variety of forms, to include TED Talks responses, Diagnosis of the Day, Drug of the Week, and many different forms.
AM Break will be at _____, and PM break will be at _____. Students may retrieve their cell phones, but must return them when they return from break.
STUDENTS MAY NOT EAT IN THE CLASSROOM, SO ALL SNACKS MUST BE FINISHED BEFORE ENTERING. THIS WILL ALSO BE THE DESIGNATED TIME FOR BATHROOM BREAKS. PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO GO TO THE RESTROOM IN BETWEEN BREAKS.
I will have an alert that will sound when it is 5-10 minutes prior to class ending. I will instruct students on how to clean and put away supplies used, tables, and chairs, as well as when they may retrieve their phones. All books and supplies must be properly stores, and chairs pushed in when dismissed.
Students will remain IN THEIR SEAT until I DISMISS THEM. No student is allowed to stand in line at the door.
I have chosen to make coursework and lessons as digital as possible in order to develop a routine and understanding of how to navigate this course should we transition to e-learning, or quarantine/illness. That DOES NOT mean that while we are in f2f learning that there will not be paper assignments, activities, etc. This model will make absences more manageable, as well as distance learning expectations.
This course is designed to GUIDE the student’s learning, and is project and research based. Students will be responsible for following due dates and assignments on Google Classroom and the class calendar. All students will actively participate in our collaborative learning environment.
PLEASE schedule outside appointments to avoid missing class time. Each three hour class period is the equivalent of TWO days of other courses, and it will be very difficult to catch up.
Absentee and tardy policies may be found HERE

(No grades will be pulled after that date) No more than 2 unexcused absences during the semester. No disciplinary referrals during the semester. Teacher has the right to deny exemption based on behavior, tardies, etc.
Late Work: E-LEARNING GUIDELINES ARE DIFFERENT- PLEASE SEE E-LEARNING
Daily grades/ STAT starts/ minor grades: There will be plenty of class time to do assigned work. If a student does not finish by the assigned date, five points per day will be deducted . After five days, the student will receive a zero.
Major grades/ Projects: Students will receive ten points per day deducted for projects or other major grades. After five days, the student will receive a zero.
EXTRA CREDIT:
This does not exist in my classes. My expectation is that students will complete all assignments, be prepared for assessments and projects, without the creation of “extra” work to be completed and graded.
Retake Policy
Occasionally, a student may perform poorly on a test/assessment/project for a variety of reasons. To give every student the opportunity to overcome a poor assessment grade:
A student may retake any test during the current grading period, within five class days, if they receive less than an 80. The student will receive an average of the two test grades. Final exams and projects do not fall under this policy. Quiz grades may not be retaken.
After receiving a test grade, a student who desires to redo the assessment must immediately notify the teacher of that intention, by completing a “Request to Retest” Google Form. (Located in GCR Classroom Forms File) This must be filled out within ONE class day of receiving their test back.
Prior to retaking an assessment, students must complete teacher assigned remedial work. Remedial work will be assigned at the discretion of the teacher.
When retaking a test, teachers will provide a different form of the original test, but the same objectives will be tested.
The instructor reserves the right to establish an absolute deadline for redoing work (i.e. A week before the end of nine week reporting period) in order to meet grading deadlines.
Class rules, expectations and discipline – You should pay close attention to rules and procedures to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you. We will participate in many hands on activities that will require you to follow safety measures. In the case of behavior and discipline problems, I will follow the AIT policy and make referrals as necessary. ASD5 discipline guidelines will be strictly enforced.

Students may not progress to the next level of Health Science (HS2) unless the following criteria are met. Due to high enrollment, and limited seats per school, ALL students are scored on the following rubric to ensure fairness. These will be completed by me in the middle of the 2nd/4th quarter, and may not be changed once submitted. I encourage students to strive for their very best in all subjects, and make every effort to be in class and participate.
There are A LOT of rules, guidelines and policies for students to remember. I GET IT.
Although the rules and guidelines are very "to the point," and thorough.... they are done this way to completely take away the need for questions or explanations. This is NOT the military.... we will have FUN, I promise! These are all put into place to make that possible. If we all understand the expectations, and adhere to them, it removes the need for discipline in the classroom. We will grow relationships, trust, and creativity. I will make LEADERS of you all. Don't be sidelined by so many words.... it's really just common sense. I will show you grace, and mercy when needed. I will have a very safe environment for you to be each day. We will laugh, most of the time at me, and become the very best version of YOU... whether face to face or virtual.
Please come to me if you need anything at all. Food, clothes, a pep talk, or you are just having a bad day.
