QR codes are great because they avoid the task of having to enter in a web address. Using the camera app on an iPad or other QR scanner app, students simply scan the QR code and are brought to the site you want them to visit. You can share documents in Google Drive this way as well.
Step 1- After you have created a Google Form, first click the Preview button at the top right of the page that looks like an eye. See "Using Google Forms to Automatically Check Student Answers" to learn more about creating Google Forms
Step 2- After the Preview is on the screen, copy the web address at the top. When you copy the Preview button you ensure that the students will open the link in Safari, which makes the process of opening the form easier.
Step 3- Open the website QRstuff.com. While there are many different websites that allow you to create QR codes, I like this website because I don't have to log in and can just copy the QR code almost instantly after I enter a web address.
Step 4- Copy the QR code that is shown on the screen. You can either copy the picture directly and paste it in your document (such as a Google Slide), or you can "Download QR Code," save it to your computer, and then insert it in your document.
Step 1- Open your Google Drive, right click the file you want to create a QR code for and then click Share.
Step 2- After you click "Share" choose the setting you would like. I like to choose "Anyone with the link can view." This way students don't have to worry about logging in to Google Drive. You also only want them to "view" the file not "edit" the file. This is important because if you allow students to edit the document they could change your original document, which you probably don't want.
Step 3- Click "Copy link."
Step 4- Go to QRstuff.com or another QR generator website. See step 3 under "Creating a QR code for a Google Form" above for more information about using QRstuff.com.
