Ciao! My name is Mrs. Contreras. My pronouns are she/her. This year I am teaching Science at Brixner Junior High! Before moving to Oregon in 2018, I taught High School Math & Science in Washington and Idaho. I grew up in Cle Elum & Ellensburg, Washington - a small mountain community in the East Central Cascades. I was a Horse/Dog 4-H and Pony Club kid, as well as being involved in skiing, ballet, and Music (piano, violin, & viola). I graduated from the University of Montana (B.A. in Music, Physics minor) and earned my teaching certificate at Central Washington University. I enjoy teaching science through hands-on projects and real-world topics. You can often find my classes in our newly established Brixner Schoolyard Habitat pollinator garden! This project has been extremely rewarding for students and myself. The pollinator garden is certified and grant funded through National Wildlife Federation and US Fish & Wildlife supported. Subjects Taught: 7th grade Life & the Environment, Ecology science elective

Activities & Interests: I love my family, pets (horse, dogs, gecko, chickens, pigeons, chukars, & quail!), riding horses and skiing! I am an active member of the High Desert Trail Riders, Back Country Horsemen chapter here in Klamath Falls. I am passionate about maintaining & conserving our public lands and wildlife. In the summers, I am often "out of service" more than I am "in service"! Pack trips into the wilderness with my horse, dogs, and borrowed mule are my favorite trips!
