Monthly Newsletter
Attendance: Attendance is important. All absences require a written excuse upon your child’s return to school. Please see the school handbook for more information.
Bus Numbers: Each child received a bus tag with his/her bus number on it. This number is the bus that they take from school to home at the end of the school day. Please leave this on your child’s backpack. It will help to ensure that your child gets on the correct bus. This is also important as it has your child’s cafeteria number. Please help your child learn their cafeteria number.
Breakfast: If you are planning to allow your child to have breakfast in the morning and you are transporting your child to school, please make sure they arrive at school with enough time to eat breakfast. School begins at 8:30.
Parent Square: This is an app all classrooms use. This is an extremely useful communication tool where you can get information via text and or email. Students will learn how to use this at the beginning of school. Please be on the lookout for further information regarding this.
Communication: Communication is the key to success. Please connect to seesaw, so we can be in constant communication for the success of your child's education! Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns. My school email address is: kbridge@windberschools.org. Each child will receive a folder, which is a great place to include excuses and notes. Please check your child's folder daily for any classroom news.
Labels: Daily belongings need to be labeled with your child’s name for easy identification. This includes lunchbox, backpacks, jackets, hats and personal items. Often students may have the same coat, backpack, etc. Having your child’s name on items, will help to identify who the item belongs to.
Zippers and Shoelaces: Please practice zipping, snapping, & buttoning jackets as well as tying shoelaces with your child.
Snack: Students should bring a snack daily. Students will have water with snacks. I will be sending home a ziplock bag for snacks.
Birthdays: If you are interested, birthday celebrations will be held on the child’s birthday or as close as possible to the actual day. You are welcome to send a treat with your child for the celebration. Please make sure there are enough treats for each student. We currently have 20 students in our class.
Lunch: We have lunch 10:55- 11:25. Please send lunch money in an envelope with your child’s name and lunch number on the front. Children will place the money in a box in the cafeteria.
Water Bottles: Please send your child in with a water bottle. Students may only have water in these bottles. I ask that the bottle be easy for your child to use, but yet not easy to spill. Please do not send in glass water bottles. Students may use these throughout the day.
Items Needed: Please send in with your child a spare set of clothes in a bag with your child’s name on it. I will send home a ziplock type bag for this. Please send in headphones for your child!
Reading: Students will grow as readers and writers. Setting an at home reading time will help your child grow as a reader. Students will be sent home with take home readers. Please support your child by reading with them and allowing them to read to you. They enjoy this one on one time and you will get to see them connect with words and reading.
Homework: Homework will be sent home in your child’s folder. Please return when possible the next day of school. Please contact me with any questions.
Looking forward to a great year!
