AMI CHOICE BOARD SNOW DAY.pdf

DAY 1 - 1/12/24

Students (and parents) will choose 1 assignment for each subject.

Phonics: Read a book and draw the characters and the setting or write your name in the snow

Math: Play uno or a number card game with a family member or count to 30 using a silly accent

Art: Draw a picture of you and your ideal snow day activity or watch and complete "How to Draw a Hedgehog" by Art for Kids Hub

Science: Watch "Where Do Snowflakes Come From?" by SciShow Kids or find things around your home that feel cold

Writing: Practice writing the alphabet in a salt tray or write the sentence "I love snow days!" three times

DAY 2 - 1/16/24

Students (and parents) will choose 1 assignment for each subject.

Phonics: Using playdough or any alternative spell out the words dream, king, and peace or read the provided short story at the end of the slides

Math:  Sort objects into 2, 5, or 10 or listen to Counting by Five Song by Scratch Garden

Art: Create the "I have a dream.." handprint and heart craft or create MLK JR Day paper plate wreath

Items needed: Construction paper, brown paint/crayon, white brown paint/crayon, red paint/crayon

Social Studies: Watch "The Story of Martin Luther King Jr." by Kid President or complete egg equality lesson. Draw and write how are the same and different

Items needed: 1 brown egg and 1 white egg

Writing:  Write Martin Luther King Jr three times each or write a sentence about what you would do to help make sure everyone is included at school

DAY 3 - 1/22/24

Students (and parents) will choose 1 assignment for each subject.

Phonics: Snowball letter unwrap (Letter recognition) or write 5 words ending with -it

Items needed: Magnetic letters, pieces of paper. You can substitute using magnetic letters by having your student trace with marker or crayon the letter written on the snowball

Math:  Practice making ten frames using items found in your kitchen ex: goldfish or make 24 footprints in the snow

Art : Create a snowflake using any paper at home or watch and complete "How to Draw The Frozen Face Emoji" by Art for Kids Hub

Science: Watch "Why is snow white?" by Mystery Science (Mystery Doug) or make a snow volcano

Writing: Practice writing the letter W in upper and lowecase five times or write a sentence about what you did on this snow day
