Student Expectations:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the new school year! My name is Mrs. Allavena. Below you will find information about the upcoming school year.
Absences:
Please send in a note upon return with dates of absence and reason.
Students need to make up tests, classwork, and homework in a timely manner.
Supplies:
Please replenish as needed (especially pencils & tissues).
Please NO paint markers! They stain the desks and floors.
Other Information:
All cell phones must be turned in!
If a student is changing their usual dismissal line a note MUST be sent in. Otherwise they will be sent to their regular dismissal line.
Please make sure that you check FACTS on a regular basis to see your child’s progress.
Respect: Within the classroom, students are expected to show consideration to the teacher and their fellow students. Respect benefits everyone and contributes to the good of the entire school.
MATH:
Students will have homework every Monday-Thursday night. Each class I will check homework. If work is incomplete, students will take ownership and record missed work. 3 missing homework assignments will result in a demerit. Incomplete homework will still need to be completed.
There will be classwork, quizzes, and tests throughout the year.
We will be using IXL to reinforce skills
Science/Social Studies:
There will be projects and more hands-on activities with both subjects.
Projects will be done in school so I can assist them and see how their work is progressing. Incomplete work may be taken home for homework as needed.
Notes:
* Study guides and test date announcements will be posted on my website.
In conclusion, I must state that 5th grade is truly a transitional year as we are trying to prepare the students for the future demands of middle school. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Taylor Allavena
