This journey was characterised by a combination of tough class modules, research, pressing buttons with modelling, mapping and having fun with folks at the faculty, particularly the department of Natural Resources Management (NRM).
This marked a milestone to being awarded the Master of Science degree. I am grateful to the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (now Orange Knowledge Programme) for funding my studies and more importantly following up with connections through the ITC and Holland Alumni.
At ITC, we were all International Students from developing countries. Courses converge to the applications of Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing tools, to describe and understand the features on the earth. The teaching environment starts from introductions toward more specific subjects, depending on your department. Facilities, including software and any support are provided, and after your graduation, you always have access to a student GIS software (ArcGIS) license. The faculty members always make sure that you contribute more to the course through practicing, also keep the student busy all the times - it's a fully packed Master programme.
But, there was some spare time for ''run for fun'', ''have NRM parties'', ''traveling to Den Haag, Amsterdam, Rotterdam'' and other famous cities of the Netherlands - to discover the flat landscapes of this country. The Dutch (the Netherlands citizens) are likely to be friendly, they can assist when you are stuck or need directions - I still keep in mind great memories from the NL.
