Daily/weekly/quarterly homework details:

• IXL Code: Students will find their weekly code on Canvas under "Modules">"Links"> "Weekly IXL Codes due Fridays". They must reach a "Smart Score" of 80 to receive full credit for the week. This assignment will be due every Thursday night by 11:59 P.M.

• Reading: Students should read for at least 15 minutes daily at home.

• Vocabulary: Students should review their vocabulary words a few times a week and ahead of any quizzes. Vocabulary words can be found in their notebooks and are also linked on Canvas under "Modules">"Vocabulary".

• Newsela: Students are responsible for reading a Newsela article and passing the quiz each week. (This assignment is due by 11:59 P.M. every Thursday night. Because they have 7 days to complete this assignment, no late work will be accepted.) 

  • • Students are allowed 3 attempts and must select a different article to read for each attempt. Students should adjust the Lexile Level to match the recommendation they received from the teacher.

• ReadNQuiz: Students are responsible for reaching a goal number of points each quarter. This counts as a major grade and will factor into their gradebook 3 times.

  • •  The 2nd Quarter goal is 8 points and must be reached by January 9. The required number of points will increase each quarter.

    • Students will read books of their choice and then take a quiz or complete a written worksheet about the book to earn points. (Quizzes can only be taken at school.)

    • Shorter, simpler books have lower point values, while longer and more complex books have higher values. No matter which a student prefers, they can reach their point goal by reading consistently and completing the books they choose.
