Welcome to first grade at River Mill Academy! We are so excited to learn, grow, and make wonderful memories with your child this year.

First grade is an exciting year filled with discoveries, growing independence, and many important academic milestones. Our classroom encourages students to be curious, take risks in their learning, ask questions, and celebrate their progress.

Our Classroom

In our first-grade classroom, we work together to create a caring, respectful, and supportive learning community. Students will learn classroom routines, build independence, practice responsibility, and develop the skills they need to become confident learners.

We believe that every child can learn and grow, and we celebrate each student's unique strengths and accomplishments. Through collaboration, hands-on learning, discussion, and meaningful practice, students will have many opportunities to take an active role in their learning.

Growing Beyond Academics

First grade is about much more than reading, writing, and math. We will also work on important life skills such as:
