Dear Parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and break! We can't wait to get back to school with your children.
We are so excited that the baby chick eggs will be arriving at preschool on Tuesday!
Over the following 10 days, students will have the special opportunity to observe the eggs as they stay warm under the incubator light and begin the amazing process of hatching. This hands-on experience will allow students to learn about life cycles, responsibility, and patience as we watch these tiny chicks make their way into the world.
We can’t wait to share this memorable learning experience with your children—and we’ll be sure to keep you updated along the way. We will have a live web cam when they hatch so you can keep track at home!
In Frog Street this week, we will learn about habitats. The habitat this week is Barnyard, and your child will be learning about barnyard animals. We will read a re-telling of the traditional fairytale The Sky Is Falling, which features many different barnyard animals. We will also read the short barnyard story Arnold, which highlights the differences between a duck and a chicken. Our third nonfiction story, Around the Barnyard, includes a variety of photographs of farm animals that live in and around the barn, along with facts about each animal. In Math, we’ll practice counting quantities up to 10 using our Barnyard Animal Count and Match.
It is going to be another wonderful week together. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns.
