September Oct 13-15

Hello Parents,

This week is all about Pumpkins! Your child will learn about the life cycle and parts of a pumpkin. We will be measuring and comparing the different sizes and colors of pumpkins. We will also walk to Taddeo's Greenhouse to pick out a pumpkin to bring home! A class pumpkin will be chosen and used for different activities! 

Weekly Reminders:

• Wednesday, October 14 we will have a walking field trip to Taddeo's Greenhouse, Each child will get to pick out a pumpkin to bring home! 

• We will begin letter of the week. Frog Street begins with the letter C. They first focus on the types of lines that creates each letter - curvy or straight. Using a variety of methods during centers, we will create this letter with letter builders, play-doh mats, wikki Stix, gel tracing pads, and much more! 

• Please have your children bring a stuffy / blanket on Tuesday, and we will return it on Thursday.

• Tissue Paper Mosaic Pumpkin

• Sponge Painting Pumpkins 

• Five Little Pumpkins (scissor practice)

 Sensory Table: 

• Sand bins with fall themed stamps

• Foam "Fix-it" Pumpkin tray with toy hammer, golf tees

• Oats with pumpkin counters and orange pom poms

• Floam pumpkin with straw stem

Dramatic Play:

• Pumpkin Patch (Pretend to pick the perfect pumpkin, push in wheel barrel, rake leaves, bake a pumpkin pie and more!)

Math/Fine Motor Table:  

• Trace and find numbers 1 & 2 in colored rice

• Sorting objects by sizes (small, medium, big)

• Five Little Pumpkins Song(using our foam pumpkins)

Writer's Center:

• Letter C songs, sensory activities, and letter hunt

• Create letter C using play-doh and wikki stix

SPECIALS with Mrs. Bedrin:

Coming up this week: Pumpkins Galore!  On Tuesday we will read Spookley the Square Pumpkin in Library and learn about his bravery and how being different helped him do something others couldn’t. On Wednesday we will paint pumpkins of all shapes in Art and make pumpkin stew in Music. On Thursday will use flashlights to sing 5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate and use balls as pumpkins to play a pumpkin patch game in PE. We will squeeze as much learning and fun into our short week as we can!
