Dear Parents,
Happy March! We are feeling extra lucky to welcome a new month in our classroom.
As a little more sunshine begins to peek in through our windows and the first signs of Spring start to appear, the children have been filled with excitement, energy and curiosity!
This month we will be talking about what makes us feel “lucky” - our families, friends, and faith, along with all the special things that make our classroom such a happy place to learn and grow! We will have some St.Patrick’s Day fun throughout the month as we read stories, create festive art, and even build a leprechaun trap together to see if we can catch a sneaky little visitor!
This week we’ll be focusing on how kids can move to places nearby and far away. Your little one will be learning about different travel methods they may have used during play, including tricycles, scooters, and skateboards! We will also talk about safety practices that are important during play, such as wearing a helmet, using wrist guards and knee pads, and always having an adult nearby. We’ll be reading two stories—Kids Travel and Bing! Bang! Chugga! Beep!—to learn about travel in the car and on the playground.
If your child has traveled somewhere meaningful - whether it's Grandmom & Grandpop's house by car, trip to the shore, a visit to Florida by plane, or scooter ride to their favorite park - we invite them to bring in one small item that represents that special place to share with their classmates on Wednesday or Thursday!
In Math, we’ll be identifying shapes from images in our Read-Aloud stories, counting, and comparing quantities using the words more and fewer with visuals.
Whether you and your family have traveled near and far, or you love being a homebody, we hope this week will get your little one excited about all the ways they can move and play, now and in the future!
Open House for current school families has been rescheduled to this Tuesday, March 3 from 4:45 - 6:00 pm. Please feel free to come take a peek in our classroom and to go tour the PK classrooms to help ease the transition to a new building next year!
We hope to see you all on Tuesday evening!
Ms. St.Clair & Mrs. Thompson
