iSLICEE is a program that helps teachers to develop more engaging and hands-on lesson plans to further a child's computational thinking skills. The iSLICEE grant has allowed many teachers to completely transform their activities and content by incorporating technology.
This program has granted our classroom many amazing opportunities to use technology in our lessons. We will use a variety of different robots and appliances to ensure every student is receiving a good quality education.
Listed below, you will learn more about the different robots we plan to use to engage the students with the content and other activities.
Blue Bots- are programable buttons that students can navigate anywhere with the click of an arrow.
Ozobots-teaches kids programming. Ozobot can identify lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper
Dash- students can watch their virtual coding turn into tangible learning experiences in real time as Dash, with its performance and multiple sensors, interacts with and responds to its surroundings.
iPad & Apple Pen - students can create and do assignments virtually right at their desk. They can take notes and control the robots all from their iPad!
This program is incredibly important for expanding our student's knowledge. The goal of the program is to help a variety of different educators to learn about the powerful impact technology can have on education.
Here is a quote from the program's principal investigator of the project
"We want our teacher candidates to not only be a generation of consumers of digital technology but also to have an understanding of how to use these tools to further computational thinking in the classrooms,”
