  • Develop and use strategies & methods (concrete models, pictorial models, area model and properties of operations) for fraction computation in order to solve problems

  • Represent and solve addition and subtraction of fractions with unequal denominators referring to the same whole using objects and pictorial models and properties of operations

  • Compare and represent fractions in multiple ways

  • Add/Subtract Fractions and Mixed #’s with Unlike Denominators

  • Subtract Mixed #’s w/Regrouping

  • Estimate Fractions w/Sums and Differences using Benchmark Fractions

  • Multiply Fractions: Find Part of a Group

  • Division of Whole Number by Unit Fraction and Unit Fraction by Whole Number including using Models and Number Lines

  • The use of the standard algorithm is not a focus in this unit

  • Reinforcement of all facts through 12 x 12
