My Teaching Philosophy:
Over the course of the year, we will focus on these three criteria:
1. Digital Citizenship (internet safety)
2. 21st Century technology skills (Coding, G Suite, keyboarding, creative projects, etc.)
3. Information Literacy (the ability to locate & evaluate necessary information)
My philosophy on technology education is multi-faceted. First, I believe that all students need to learn 21st century technology skills as they prepare to become future leaders in the workplace. Technology is constantly changing. Learning 21st century technology skills is as critical as learning to read and write. In addition to learning technology skills, all students must learn digital citizenship. Being safe and responsible online, are vital skills in learning how to navigate through technology. Information literacy skills are also crucial considering the massive amount of information available to our students. 21st century learners need to know where and how to find credible information. The following websites & platforms have been my guiding lights as I've worked in education over the last 8 years. They have helped me develop my teaching philosophy in regards to technology education. I use them frequently:
ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education)
P21 (Partnership for 21st Century Learning)
I teach with energy and enthusiasm because I love technology and I love teaching! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. meghannnebeker@alpinedistrict.org
