Meet Mrs. N

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 17th year teaching 1st grade at Mark Sheridan. I may be a little biased, but I think it's the best! It's such an awesome year of growth both academically and socially for students. You're going to be amazed at what your child can do by the end of the year!

I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and my entire family still lives there. We try to make it back 3-4 times a year to spend time with everyone -- eating and enjoying the warm weather!

I have a BA in English and Sociology from Tulane University in New Orleans and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from National-Louis University. I achieved my National Board certification in 2013 and I'm hoping to get good news about a successful renewal in December of 2023 - fingers crossed! In May of 2022, I finished a 2nd Master's focused on Early Childhood Language and Literacy Development at Erikson Institute. During a typical summer, I attend conferences focused on literacy and technology integration. I truly enjoy the learning process, both as a teacher and a student.

When I'm not teaching, I love to cook (and eat!), travel, and run. I've run 12 marathons, a 50k, and many, many races at other distances. The 1/2 marathon distance holds a special place in my heart. :)
