First semester:
The Shape of Things!
It’s time for our Fall Project! This will be our first Journeys project for the year. The project will be to create a 3D object made out of shapes. Students can make anything as long as they use at least 6 different shapes (ex: a robot using cubes, rectangular prisms, spheres, circles, triangles, and a cone.) Some ideas are: a doll, a robot, a car, a rocket, a city, an animal, a dinosaur, or any object they would like to create.
Shapes that students may use:
~cube ~cylinder ~rectangular prism ~sphere
~hexagon ~octagon ~triangular prism ~cone
~squares ~circles ~rectangles ~triangles
Students need to write a report stating what object they made and what shapes were used to create their 3D object. Students need to be able to identify the shapes they used and explain how their project was made. The project is due on Friday, December 1st. Ten points per day will be taken off for late projects. Students will be graded on creativity, if at least 6 shapes were used, and if he/she can describe how the object was made. The report must be at least 5 sentences and written by your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me ASAP. Thanks for your support and I can’t wait to see all the creative projects!
