Class Projects
Desktop Publishing and Printing
Students researched an animal of their choice and constructed a color brochure of their research. Students chose different animals like owls, boxer dogs. capybaras, dolphins, and fish.
Computer Programming
Students participated in the hour of code during computer science education week. 5th and 6th graders learned the basics of computer programming and how we can interact digitally with the computer. Each student was awarded a certificate of accomplishment.
Internet Safety
All 7th and 8th grade students constructed a digital presentation on Internet safety. The unit included learning about malware, phishing, scammers, cyber criminals, spam and logo fraud in electronic mail or on the web. Class teams reported their research to others in a class presentation.
Email & Netiquette
Students learned about electronic mail, and netiquette. Students created a digital presentation over the importance of being a responsible, respectful digital citizen and how it impacts their digital footprint long term.
Students researched and explored career professions to teach others about their future goals.
Career Brochures
Students were able to create a tri-fold brochure using Microsoft Word and Publisher
Understanding the Importance of the Cover Letter
Students created, wrote, and revised a cover letter for their future profession. Individual students were able to edit, format and print their final drafts. All work was constructed using Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Professional Resume Writing
Students were able to construct a resume in Microsoft Word and Publisher. Students created, revised, and printed their resumes for peer review and class display.
Graphic Design: Reflection
Multimedia students used a graphic editor to create a reflection silhouette of themselves using descriptive adjectives and nouns. We constructed a multiple text graphic using Microsoft Paint.
Entrepreneurship and Advertising
Students choose a small business they would like to own and created advertising business documents to promote their new business. Our unit included learning how to format, revise, and make adjustments to graphics and business documents. Students constructed their work in Microsoft Publisher and edited their photographs in Paint.
Learning to Budget Expenses
Students learned how to balance their bank accounts, save, invest their money and budget for expenses. Teams prepared and conducted research on buying a home and car. We also discussed the importance of insuring our assets.
Computer Networks
Students created a diagram on how wired and wireless networks are configured and what it takes to connect to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The graphic was created in Google Drawing and based on our school network.
