LEARNING CHECKLIST
Create a whole mount slide
Create a leaf tear slide
Create a leaf and stem cross section slide
Create a live mount slide
Find each of the speciments under the microscope and focus accurately
Draw each of the specimens following all biological drawing rules
Label all of the structures you can see
Write a series of detailed paragraphs about two specialised structures seen in each slide
ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Part 1 - Practical
You will be required to make three slides from the ones you have practised - these will be checked off by your teacher as you go
You will then need to focus with a microscope and draw each of your specimens - these will have to be checked off as matching what you can actually see down the microscope by your teacher
You will then need to label all structures that you have drawn (you should only draw and label what you can actually see)
Part 2 - Written
You are required to select two specialised structures from each of your specimens to write about in detail. It is important that you choose structures that are particulary relevant to that specimen. For example nucleus or cytoplasm are generally too general, and often visible in all the slides you will create.
Things to include in the write up - explain the physical structures, how they function and the importance of them to the survival and success of the organism the specimen comes from.
