Programming Details

The mission of the School Counseling Program is to help students develop the academic, career, and personal/social skills needed for successful learning and productive citizenship. As part of the School Counseling Curriculum, your child and the other K-12 students will have the opportunity to participate in classroom lessons, career courses and individual meetings that focus on many of the following topics:

Social Skills
Academic Success
Personal Safety
Alcohol/Drug Awareness and Prevention
Healthy Relationships (family, friendships, etc.)
Positive Self Image/Character Education
Self-Management (stress, depression, and suicide prevention)
Career Exploration
Diversity
Internet/Social Networking Safety
Transitions (to the next level of education)

This year, I will be focusing on positive character development. It is possible that throughout the year, I may administer surveys to students and other adults in the building. The survey results would be used as a tool for examining the school counseling program and its effectiveness. As always, you have the option to opt out your son or daughter of these surveys. Please contact me if you would like to do so or if you have any questions about the changes within the counseling office, other concerns, or suggestions on how to improve this program.
