Assignment: Write a letter to a specific person (real or hypothetical) in which you engage Rogerian communication structure in order to explore your audience's angle of vision.

Outline: I. Intro -- show familiarity with audience and problem or point of opposition

    II. Summary of Audience Views -- use a neutral tone and language to summarize what your audience thinks/feels about the topic and why they feel that way.

    III. Common Ground -- Based on what the audience thinks/feels about the topic, state what you have in common with them. Focus on basic values that you both share. 

        IV. Presentation of your views -- Introduce your views, but only as a way for the audience to widen their views. Use phrases like "Have you considered...?" or "What if... ?"

    V. Conclusion -- Return to language that shows common beliefs or thoughts on the topic. Invite the audience to further conversation or research.
