Communication
ClassDojo is the best way to get a hold of me and I will be using it for reminders, celebrations, and other information.
Students will have a purple folder they will bring back and forth to school daily. Please check for important information and if there is something you need me to see including note for the office please place in the folder which the student will turn in each day.
I will update a classroom newsletter every month on our front page. This will encompass learning goals and important dates for the month.
Train Tickets
Train tickets are the reward students will receive when making positive choices in our school. Students earn train tickets by being safe, respectful, and responsible. When they have received ten then they can turn them in for the classroom prize box or a coupon in our room. Students will also be entered into a whole school drawing when they turn in their train tickets.
Other teachers can give the whole class train cars when they are all following our school rules. When we collect ten cars we will have a class party. This year we are also excited to be adding in a school wide celebration when we have earned enough train cars as a school.
Snack
We will have snack time everyday to fuel our brains. I ask that parents who are willing and able to donate individually packed and non-perishable food for the class. When we begin to run low I will send out a reminder on class dojo. WE WILL BE A PEANUT FREE CLASSROOM. Please make sure the snacks do not have peanuts in them.
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and Lunch are FREE to ALL families this year.
Breakfast is a sack they pick up in the cafeteria and students will come to the classroom to eat.
Lunch will be served in the lunch room.
You may choose to send your student with a packed lunch or have them order a school lunch. If you send your child with a packed lunch please make sure the lunch bag is labeled with their name and that they are able to independently open their own items.

Birthdays
I love being able to celebrate our students on their birthdays! You are welcome to join us on the day we celebrate your student’s birthday. You may bring in a special treat or just come celebrate with us. If you choose to bring in a food treat please make sure it is Peanut Free!
Students will come home with a book made by all their friends wishing them a happy birthday.
Volunteer
I love having volunteers in the classroom to help students grow. Starting sometime in October I will have multiple opportunities so you can find what fits best for your schedule and comfort level.
If you are interested in volunteering regularly (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) I will send out a google form during the beginning of October asking for your availability.
If your schedule doesn’t allow you to volunteer on a regular basis but you would still like to volunteer when you have time please reach out to me and we will find a time that works.
We also have special events that happen from time to time (field trips, holiday parties, special events). Look for information in Class Dojo messages and newsletters if you are interested in volunteering for those.
Jobs also come up that require prep for upcoming activities that can be done at home. If you are interested in these opportunities please indicate it on the google form.
If you are interested in volunteering please make sure to fill out Tumwater School District Application at https://www.helpcounterweb.com/welcome/apply.php?district=tumwater.
Show and Tell and Toys
We do not allow toys at school except for show and tell. If a toy does find its way to school, I ask that the students keep them in their back pack.
Each student gets to do Show and Tell once a week. On that day they may bring something they would like to share that can fit in their backpack. I will send out a schedule once we have gotten into the swing of things.
Clothing
Accidents happen, especially while we are having fun learning and growing! Please put and leave a spare change of clothes in your child’s backpack in a ziploc bag.
Please take time to write your child’s name on any clothes that might come off during the day (hats, jackets, gloves, etc.). We have a Lost and Found but it fills up fast!
I am so excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher and to help them learn and grow this year. Please let me know if you have any questions.
