Homework is not a common practice in my classroom. I know that everyone has busy lives and I don’t want homework to be a burden. I believe that when students put in the time and work during school that there isn’t a need for homework. I want you to spend your evenings together as a family without the stress of dealing with homework!
With that being said, if students do not complete the assigned work at school, they will be required to take it home to finish it. I give plenty of class time to work so if something is being sent home from me, then work was not being done in class as efficiently as it should have.
There are simple requirements that I ask your student to complete; sometimes daily, weekly, or randomly. Please read through these on the next tab and let me know if you have any questions.
Chromebooks
Use a case and charge it EVERY NIGHT!
READ at home and have discussions about it.
TRY TO AIM FOR 20 MINUTES A WEEK
CLICK HERE for a great resource for helping your child read at home.
Please let me know if you need me to send home books with your child, I would be happy to.
Study for upcoming tests
Study guides will be sent home in advance. Students should take this as an opportunity to begin studying.
Friday Folder
Check your child’s folder every Friday and sign it saying you looked through their work with them.
Students can bring home things throughout the week, but I will only require them to take everything home on Friday.
Weekly Reflection
This reflection process gives the students a way to not only reflect on their learning for the week, but it provides a great way for you to specifically know what they are learning.
This paper needs to be looked over, signed, and returned to school on Monday.
Assignment Notebooks
It will be your child’s responsibility to fill out their assignment notebook.
This is an important skill to develop before going to Junior High next year.
Parents should sign their student's assignment notebook each night.
