I took this class with Professor Haydar. It was a condensed course outlining teaching techniques such as clinical interviews and lesson study. Lesson study is a four step system where you study, plan, teach, and reflect with your peers on how to make lessons better. Clinical interviews are a one on one interview with a student to probe how much they understand a concept. For my clinical interview I interviewed a student on the topic of Fractions and I asked varied questions of difficulty to see where her thoughts go and try to see what she understands. The most important lesson I learned is that Math can be taught in many ways such as games, books videos, art, and manipulative objects. However these options do not replace a well crafted lesson that includes many options to experience math.
