Mr. McKendrick spent his childhood in Monrovia, California before moving to Covina and graduating from Northview High School in 1996. He grew up an avid sports fan, cheering for the local college and professional sports teams. His family traveled regularly to the beach, camped all over the western United States and enjoyed playing the piano together. During his senior year in high school, he painted the weight room for his Eagle Scout project with his local troop.
At age 19, he served a two year, full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lima, Perú and the Amazon jungle. He studied Marketing Communications and Latin American Studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. In 2003 he did extensive marketing research for the sales department as an intern at Temple Inland packaging company in Guadalajara, Mexico. He received his Masters Degree in Education at Azusa Pacific University in 2007. He taught Spanish for Spanish Speakers I & II and Spanish I & II for ten years at Northview High School in Covina, California. Between 2005-2013 he was head coach of multiple boys and girls basketball, track, and cross country squads, several of which won league championships and qualified for postseason competition. He served as an ASB club and advisor, organizing fundraisers, rallies and proms. He served as World Language Department Chair for seven years and has organized multiple educational trips to Europe and Latin America. Mr. McKendrick is currently the Assistant Principal of Canyon Oaks High School, Mountain Park School and Monrovia Community Adult School. He is happily married and has three sons and a daughter.
