Expectations
Students will be held to the expectations detailed in the Summit Ridge Student Agenda. Cell phones must be turned off and left in your locker or at home.
Absences
If students miss school, it is their responsibility to see what they've missed. Check our Google Classroom and Daily Agenda. You will find a description of the day and any resources or documents that were posted. According to Summit Ridge policy, students have 2 days per absent day to make up work.
Summit Ridge uses letter grades according to this scale:
A: 89.5-100% B: 79.5-89.49% C: 69.5-79.49% D: 59.5-69.49% F: 0-59.49%
Learning means making mistakes! For this reason, students are allowed to correct assignments from the current unit for full credit. (Late assignments and assignments from previous units cannot be corrected). The assignment needs to be corrected with me in order to correct misunderstandings. Appropriate times for this are access or Tuesdays/Thursdays after school. I do my best to update the grade book in a timely manner. My grade book will be updated weekly. If an assignment is blank, it means it hasn't been graded. A zero indicates the assignment wasn't turned in by the end of the unit and will not receive credit. "Missing" means the assignment is missing but can be turned in for partial credit.Late Work
Work turned in one day late will receive 70% credit, unless other arrangements have been made. Late work may only be turned in until the end of the unit; after that, it will not be accepted. If students are having trouble getting work turned in on time, I will work with them and the parents to find a solution.
Homework
Homework is not typically assigned in my Science class. However, in-class assignments may become homework if students did not finish in class or need extra time. Students also have some time to complete homework from all their classes in our daily Advisement class. See my class calendar for daily assignments, quizzes or tests, and due dates for homework/projects.
Extra Help
Teachers are available for extra help from 2:30-3:25, Tuesday and Thursdays. I can also be contacted by email. I love when students email to take responsibility for their own learning!
