During the course of this school year, students will learn about World History from Medieval to Early Modern Times in 7th grade. Throughout the course of study, students are expected to demonstrate responsibility for the work assigned along with demonstrating understanding of the subject matter through various assessments. The following is the class outline for this class.
50% of the grade will be based on the notebook
30% of the grade will be based on the test
15% of the grade will based on homework/projects/class discussion
5% of the grade will based on citizenship which requires participation of in-class assignments and following classroom expectations
From the day we start a unit to the day it is due, all the assignments in the notebook can be completed anytime as long as it is completed by the day of the test since it will be turned in that day. There will be in-class time to complete the assignments on most days and some assignments require working in a group. The deadline will generally be posted a week in advance for students to remind them to manage their time to complete all the assignments by the the day of the test. The notebook can also be used for the test.
The test require students to demonstrate understanding and comprehension of the subject matter. Students will be able to use their notebook and select assignments to aid in taking their test. It is paramount that students are diligent in reading, studying, and comprehending what they learn in order to perform well on the test or to the best of their abilities.
A majority of these assignments will be group-based and can be completed with the time given in class. My homework policy is to ensure students go home with as little to work on at home as possible because I as a teacher and parent value your child's time after school. However, it is also very important for students to manage their in-class time effectively otherwise students will give themselves more stress by procrastinating on their assignments. The quality and time spent on the course work is essential to being able to demonstrate mastery of the subject matter.
