BA Elementary Ed
MA Curriculum and InstructionÂ
Computer Technology Certificate
I earned my B.A. in elementary education with a concentration in English from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio and a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a Focus in Literacy Education from the University of Missouri. In addition, I also have a Computer Technology Certificate completed through Bowling Green. In my years of teaching experience I have taught English, Math, Social Studies and Computer Science. All of my experience has been in classrooms grades 5-8.Â
Since 2012 I have taught middle school technology courses covering keyboard skills, internet safety and expectations, G Suite, basic coding skills, and game design thinking. I am a Google Certified Educator, Level 2 and continue to learn, connecting with innovative educators through conferences, Twitter and blogs. I am a problem-solver who enjoys analyzing problems, choosing the best tools or strategies for, and seeing my efforts through, to the solution. I am a team-player who enjoys helping other teachers as much as I do helping students.
My family has lived in Tipp/Troy since 2017. My wife Rachel is the lead pastor at Tipp City Church of the Nazarene, and I coach the Tippecanoe Middle School Football team. Our oldest son, Ryan (22) is married to Bethany and works in Columbus. Our son Joel (20) lives in Troy. Miles (18) attends MVCTC, while our daughter Hattie Jo (10) is in 5th Grade at LT Ball. We are a foster family and currently have 3 additional kids with us at home.Â
My interests outside of teaching and technology include lifting weights, and watching sports. In the past, I’ve run a couple marathons and a handful of half marathons, but I have spent more time lifting weights recently. I also enjoy reading.
