Introductory Electronics(Creativity Station)

Day 1: Electronics tools; components;  Olympic Rings soldering exercise; wire simple circuits; solder on Dupont wire sockets

Day 2: What is sound? Exploring tones, music, and harmonics; found sound; Sound analysis Apps

Day 3: DIY Speakers; DIY Pickups; amplifiers; graphic equalizers

Day 4: DIY Musical Instruments- Kalimba, xylophone, cigar-box guitar

Day 5: Musical laser harp; photophone; music reactive LED lights

Sound Engineering( 12-week elective)

• Week 1: What is sound? How is it described? Explore found sounds

• Week 2:  Musical Instruments exploration; spectrograms and graphic equalizers

• Week 3: Build musical wind instruments- copper pipe glockenspiel, didgeridoo,etc.

• Week 4: Build string instrunments- cigar box guitar

• Week 5: : Electronics tools and components; reading schematics; build breadboard circuits

• Week 6: DIY pickups- piezo sensors, magnetic pickups

• Week 7: Building amplifiers

• Week 8: DIY Speakers

• Week 9: Sending Music with light- photophone, fiberoptic transmission of sound

• Week 10: Independent Project( laser harp, musical bench, sound+light show,etc)

• Week 11: Independent Project

• Week 12: Independent Project
