Calculator Help
This page will provide tutorials for use with your TI-84 Series Calculator
Main Menu Options
This is the Main Menu of Options:
MathPrint allows for the new formatting and input into a more visually friendly display.
Normal Display is the setting you want instead of Scientific or Engineering.
Float allows for the number of decimals to change depending upon the calculation and show as many decimals as is possible.
Radian or Degree depends upon the units you are using for your angle.
Function, Parametric, Polar or Sequential refer to the graphing options for your equation
Thick refers to the graphing display options
Real will place numbers in real number form
Full display is a Full Graph Screen. Other options allow for a horizontal split and also to see a graph and corresponding table.
Fraction Type: Improper (1st Option) or Mixed Number (2nd Option)
Answers: Chooses most appropriate answer type
Stat Diagnostics allow you to quickly turn on or off the Diagnostics which include the correlation coefficient.
Graph Format Settings
These are the basic settings under the Format Menu. This menu controls the axes, grid and even allows you to import a background image for your calculator. The Detect Asymptotes feature is an adjustment to fix a previous error in earlier calculators.
Graph Window Settings
These are the settings for your graph. They will look a bit different depending upon your mode, but the settings above are a standard square with a scale of 1 for tick marks on the axes.
Table Setup
The Table Setup Menu allows the user to choose a starting value and an incremental change for the values as they appear in the table. This can be very helpful. The user can also have the ability to input the independent variable.
Catalog
Very little known feature of the catalog allows the user to apply any operation or function from any of the calculators menu options all located in one easy to access location.
Graph - Calculate Menu
This menu allows the user to perform various operations
1. Value: Find the y-value on a function for a user-inputted x-value
2. Zero: Find the location of any zeros (x-intercepts, roots) for a function given a limited domain
3. Minimum: Find the smallest y-value for a given domain
4. Maximum: Find the largest y-value for a given domain
5. Intersect: Find the coordinates (x and y) for the intersection points of two graphs in a given domain
6. Find the derivative at a point on a curve
7. Find the integral over a specific domain
Quick Menu Options
F1 F2 F3 F4
By choosing the Alpha and Green Function Buttons under the screen, the following options can be performed
F1: Change the fraction form presented or change a number between fraction and decimal form
F2: Options here include:
1. Absolute Value of an Input
2. Sum of an Input
3. Numerical Derivative of a Function at a value
4. Integrate a function between two values
5. Input a logarithmic expression into an easier display mode
6. Take the nth root of a function or value
7. Apply a permutation
8. Apply a combination
9. Apply a factorial
F3: Easily create a matrix of a specified number of rows and columns
F4: Easily access the shortcut to the expression stored in specific locations
Statistics Options
From the main statistics screen you can enter your data into the tables for the edit screen and sort the data from your lists (L1, L2, etc.). You can also clear a list quickly and Set Up Editor will allow you to replace all lists. Sometimes lists will be deleted accidently and Set Up Editor will restore those.

Other Statistics Menus allow for Calculations of Regressions and Statistics (Screen 1), Running of Tests (Screen 2) and Performing Operations on Distributions (Screen 3)
