Finished Year 12 as an avid skateboarder and with a Certificate III in Education, due to my interest in becoming a teacher one day.
2010 - 2013: University
Bachelor of Education, but honestly not ready for the classroom due to the lack of placements (15 total weeks in the classroom over 4 years...). Taught relief P-6 for 3 months end of 2013 before securing my first full time position.
2014: PE Teacher
Due to my love of sport, I decided to commence my teaching career teaching PE Prep-7 in a small, 200 student school. I felt this would allow me to experience a range of year levels and abilities whilst helping shape my behaviour management, ready for the classroom in the future.
2015: First classroom-Year 3
I loved PE. I just knew that I wanted my own class one day. I took the leap, moved back closer to home and pursued my passion with the wealth of knowledge I had gained teaching PE. I'll be forever thankful for that experience.
2016 & 2017: Year 3
Continued teaching Year 3. It was great to repeat the same year level as I was able to refine my delivery, become confident with content and learn the intangibles that come with teaching. A student from my 2016 page (now finished school) found my page and sent me a message! You can view it on the home page.
2018: 'Gap year'
Worked flexibly and took the opportunity to do some relief and short term contract teaching, whilst travelling with my now beautiful wife. I was often requested for relief due to my strength in behaviour management and even assisted in coaching newer teachers in the school.
2019: Back to PE!
I decided to return to classroom teaching, however life had a different idea for me. My now wife (also a teacher) had just finished her teaching degree. We decided to move to a small country town for 'country service' and there were 2 positions in the same school - a Year 5/6 teacher and a PE teacher! I reminisced on how much I enjoyed PE 5 years earlier and decided I'd like to challenge myself with the position teaching across 3 schools. This time though, I had valuable classroom experience. As the year went on, one thing was clear to me. I loved PE, but not as much as being in the classroom. I informed my Principal in Term 3 that I'd return to the classroom, ready for 2020.
2020 & 2021: Year 5/6
It was an interesting dynamic having a class of students who knew me as the PE teacher the year prior. They'd ask questions like "Are we just going to do sport all day?". This was the turning point in my career - my 7th and 8th year, refined classroom management, confidence with curriculum, worked with all ages P-7...and clarity. Clarity in knowing that the classroom was where I needed to stay.
*2020: Started my videos!
This was the time I decided to start sharing tips and tricks on social media, where I gained a following and online presence by representing authenticity in the classroom, something I would have loved in my university degree.
My wife and I completed our country service and moved back closer to home. 2022 - Year 5 teacher2023 - Year 4 teacher2024 - Year 5 teacher2025 - Year 6 teacher2026 - Year 3 teacherDuring this time, I continued my teacher social media and gained 150,000+ followers. I ventured into coaching, mentoring pre-service teachers, experiencing admin roles such as Deputy Principal short term cover and sharing my voice in school based behaviour programs. I presented at the National Education Summit ('24 and '25) on the topic of classroom management, which lead me to where I am today - deeply wanting the opportunity to create a more formal online presence where I can create authentic and contemporary classroom strategies for the teacher who felt like I did 13 years earlier: a bit lost, confused and not knowing where to start.
Content
Those experiences didn't just shape my teaching. They became the foundation of the content I now create to support other educators.
