About Mr. Cormany

Thanks for visiting my page!  My name is Alex Cormany, and I’ve lived in Chambersburg, PA for all of my life.  After being raised and educated in the Chambersburg Area School District, I attended Messiah College, where I studied for 4 years.  In May of 2013, I graduated from Messiah with a BA in Secondary Mathematics Education.  I received my Masters in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University in 2018.  This will be my eleventh year teaching in the district, and I am very excited to continue my career at CAMS South on Team 8A.  

When I’m not at school, I enjoy playing music and sports.  I play the bass guitar often and am an avid sports fan, cheering on the Washington Wizards, Washington Nationals, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and United States National Soccer Teams.  My wife, Mrs. Cormany, teaches 7th Grade Science here at CAMS South.  We have a 4 year old and an almost 2 year old at home who keep our lives very interesting and exciting!  I encourage parents and students to keep in touch with me and ask questions as you have them.  I hope you all are as excited about this school year as I am… I’m sure it will be a successful one! 

Mr. C's Teaching Philosophy :

Math was and always will be my favorite school subject.  I hope that some of you are the same way, but know that some of you hold different interests, which is OK!  While I will never force every student to admit that mathematics is their favorite subject, a goal for my classroom is to foster an appreciation of mathematics in each of you.  I want you to understand and appreciate why we're learning what we're learning and how YOU will use it later in life.  Class will be interactive, informative, and will require everyone's input. Combining (1) my commitment to creating a safe, interactive, and productive learning environment for all students with (2) each student's commitment to being a responsible, respectful, and committed member of the class, I'm sure that we will share a successful school year. Let's make math fun together (and learn a lot in the process)!
