Adult Educational Resources

Great Plains- Adult Basic Education (ABE): ABE offers High School Equivalency and English as a Second Language basic education and diplomas for adults who were unable to complete their high school diploma. Great plains offer these classes for free.

Lawton- Best Classes for GED Prep (BGC): Listed here are all GED prep class sites and testing facilities in the Lawton region. Oklahoma is offering multiple High School Equivalent courses for adults who do not have a high school diploma.

Child Educational Resources

Comanche Nation Lords of The Plains (Tribal Support): The Comanche Nation K-12 Student Services Program is to provide supplementary assistance to Comanche tribal enrolled children and youth for basic back to school needs.

Childcare Assistance

Oklahoma Human Services: Helps provide subsidized child care benefits for children while parents or guardians are at work, in training, or receiving an education.

Clothing

Lawton First Assembly: Provides new clothes to children, for whatever reason, needing clothing that cannot be provided by their family.

Cameron Baptist Church- The Clothing Boutique: Clothing for Men, Women, Boys, and Girls.

Counseling

Christian Family Counseling Center: Provides professional mental health services to help those in need regardless of their ability to pay.

Multi-County Counseling: Provides counseling for students and people with disabilities.

Employment

Oklahoma Employment Security Commission: Provides families with supports by matching jobs and workers and provide unemployment compensation.

Goodwill- Career Development Center: A career development center which helps people gain and maintain employment at their highest level of ability, by learning various life skills through services such as career assessment and exploration, interviewing skills, and online job search techniques.

Food

Lawton Food Bank: provides both clothing and food on an emergency basis to people in need in Lawton and outside the community.

Salvation Army: The social service center/food pantry is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm. It is also open during the Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas time-frames in which holiday meals are served. There is also shelter, free Christmas gifts, baby formula, and other food items.

Housing

Lawton Housing and Community Development: Provides resources for low-income families who are in the market for buying a house for the first time, or need help fixing your home.

Lawton Housing Authority: Provides safe, decent, affordable housing opportunities.

Medical Assistance

Oklahoma Medicaid: Medicaid is a Federal and state entitlement program that provides medical benefits to low-income individuals who have no or inadequate health insurance coverage. Oklahoma Medicaid guarantees coverage for basic health and long-term care services based upon income and/or resources for eligible Oklahoma residents.
