Dugout Buddy does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. All data you enter — including team names, player names, rosters, lineups, game details, and statistics — is stored only on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party. We have no servers, no accounts, and no analytics or advertising. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
Because the app collects no data, there is nothing for us to access, use, or disclose. The app does not request location, contacts, photos, or any other personal data.

Getting started
On the Roster tab, give your team a name and add your players (7 to 15). For each player, tap the 1B marker if they're able to play first base — only those players will ever be assigned to first.
Switch teams or add another team anytime using the team menu at the top-left of any tab. Each team is completely separate, with its own roster, settings, and season.
Go to the Games tab and tap + to create your first game.
Creating a game
When you add a game, you'll enter the opponent and date and choose whether the game uses 9 or 10 fielders (this is set per game, since it can change week to week). You then have two choices:
Auto-generate builds a complete lineup for you instantly.
Enter lineup manually creates an empty game you fill in by hand — useful for entering a game you missed or want to record after the fact.
Understanding the lineup
The batting order is randomized once and stays the same for the whole game — everyone bats. Fielding positions are assigned fresh each of the 6 innings. The lineup card can be viewed two ways: By Player (each player's position every inning) and By Position (who's at each spot, with a bench row).
The generator follows youth-baseball fairness rules automatically:
First base is only assigned to players you've marked first-base eligible.
Players are rotated so they don't repeat the same position unless it's unavoidable.
Until every player has played the infield at least once, infield spots go to players who haven't been in yet, and back-to-back infield innings are avoided as much as possible.
The app tries to alternate each player between infield and outfield, and to give everyone a fair mix over the game.
When you have more players than field spots, the extra players are benched each inning, rotated fairly and randomly so bench time is shared evenly.
Note that because the infield has more positions than the outfield every inning, perfect alternation isn't always mathematically possible — the app gets as close as the numbers allow.
The number of positions adjusts to how many players are actually in the game: 10, 9, 8, or 7 players each use the appropriate set of positions (for example, 9 players uses a single center fielder instead of left-center and right-center).
Adjusting a lineup
Open a game and tap the ⋯ menu for editing options:
Edit Batting Order — drag players to reorder.
Edit Positions — choose any inning and set each position by hand, or leave a spot empty. The Copy Inning button copies the previous inning's setup so you can tweak instead of starting over.
Regenerate Lineup — re-rolls a fresh fair lineup (this clears any at-bats you've logged for that game).
Edit Game Info — change the opponent, date, or fielder count.
Marking a player out for a game (sick, absent, etc.)
Open the game, tap ⋯ → Who's Playing, and uncheck anyone who's out. They'll be removed from the batting order and the field for that game only, and left out of that game's stats — their roster spot and other games are untouched. Re-check them to add them back. After changing who's available, tap ⋯ → Regenerate Lineup to rebuild the fielding around the players who are actually there.
Tracking at-bats
During the game, open it and switch to the At Bats view. Tap any batter to log a plate appearance — single, double, triple, home run, walk, strikeout, or reached on error — and set the number of RBIs (0 to 4) for that at-bat. You can undo the last entry or clear a player's at-bats if you make a mistake.
Season stats
The Season tab rolls every game up into per-player totals: batting average, hits broken down by type, RBIs, walks, strikeouts, games played, how many innings they've played at each position (including bench), and which spots in the batting order they've hit from. Batting average follows standard scoring — walks don't count as at-bats, and reached-on-error counts as an at-bat but not a hit.
Your data and privacy
Everything you enter stays on your device. Dugout Buddy has no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics — nothing is ever sent anywhere. Because of this, your data is not backed up separately, so deleting the app removes your teams, rosters, and stats.
Common questions
Why won't it let me create a game? You need between 7 and 15 players on the roster, and at least one player marked first-base eligible.
A player is playing the same position twice — why? The app avoids repeats, but with limited eligible players (especially at first base) or a short roster, some repetition can be unavoidable. It always favors the player who's played that spot the least.
I regenerated and my at-bats disappeared. Regenerating builds a brand-new lineup and clears that game's at-bats by design. Use Edit Positions instead if you want to keep your logged at-bats.
How do I start over? You can delete individual players, games, or teams within the app. To reset everything, delete and reinstall the app.
