Sliding and "The Eb's"

In both the lower and middle octaves, Eb can be fingered using a left pinky fingering or a right pinky fingering. The optimal fingering is chosen based on the note immediately following or preceding the Eb. Oboists should select the fingering that avoids "sliding" if at all possible.
