It all began with a hot chocolate...
We met at Shiloh Valley Elementary School. Logan student taught here and was quickly hired on as a teacher. Shortly after he was hired, Logan was told by our administration team that they had hired a female version of him. He laughed and asked what exactly that meant. It meant that this new teacher was funny, hardworking, award-winning, and a fantastic teacher. This new teacher, come to find out, was Gracie!
Gracie was hired on to teach 3rd Grade and Logan was hired on to teach 5th grade. We both have a love for teaching and being a positive impact in children and teenager's lives. We taught together for several years until a bond formed.
It truly was love at first sight, for Gracie that is. She met Logan for the first time at a new teacher training at Shiloh Valley. She first noticed his blue/green eyes and his bubbly personality. She honestly tried to avoid him as much as possible. Even when Logan asked if she wanted to collaborate on things, she politely said no. She waited from a distance for three years, praying for a Godly man.
It's amazing how God always has the perfect plan. In October 2023, We were both at a very low place emotionally. We were both struggling with loneliness and fighting social and personal battles. One night, both of us had an emotional breakdown. Gracie was with her dad, Todd, and Logan was with his parents, Jeremy and Crystal. We both prayed for God to give a sign that life was going to be okay, that we were each going to be okay. Gracie went to the Starbucks drive thru and ordered a hot chocolate, not something uncommon. Surprisingly, when she gets to the window, the barista told her the car in front doubled her order and payed for it! Gracie couldn't give this to any of her 3rd grade team, because there was only one. She knew Logan had been struggling, and bravely decided to walk down the fifth grade hall and put it in Logan's room, praying he wouldn't be in there. Little did she know that Logan was fast asleep at home, phone dead. When he finally arrived at school almost an hour and a half late, he saw the hot chocolate. He asked his students several times where it came from, but drank that cold hot chocolate anyway.
At lunch that same day, Gracie asked Logan if he enjoyed his hot chocolate, and the rest is history.
Talks became texts, which became phone calls, which became dates. Logan knew he liked Gracie and could see a future with her, but he knew just how was he serious about Gracie on a cold Tuesday morning. He was in a bad car accident on the way to school. Emergency services had already been called, and after he got out of the vehicle, he subconsciously called to let Gracie know what had happened and that he was okay before he called his mom!
After going on several dates, Logan officially asked Gracie to be his girlfriend on Thursday, December 14, 2023!
After asking Gracie's dad for his blessing, Logan definitely wanted Todd and Kay to have the chance to watch the proposal happen. We already had a trip to North Myrtle Beach planned for the week after Christmas and Logan thought this would be the perfect time.
Our favorite place on Earth is Sunset Beach, NC. We love the atmosphere there and couldn't think of a better place to relax on the beach. We also love a local restaurant called The Boundary House.
Knowing all of these things about our favorite place, Logan had no question about where the perfect location was. The only questions he still had was how to get everybody there without Gracie being suspicious. He partnered with Todd and Crystal on this.
Logan made a reservation for The Boundary House for Tuesday, December 31 at 2:00 p.m. for the entire group. This would make it easy for Todd and Kay to be at the beach, knowing they love to eat there too. Crystal decided to give Gracie a tour of North Myrtle and Myrtle on Monday, December 30, knowing she had never been there or seen the cool local highlights before. We said Gracie could repay the favor in Sunset the next day.
We were taking pictures on the beach at Sunset Beach when Logan proposed to Gracie on Tuesday, December, 31st 2024!
Sunset Beach was already an extremely special place for us, and this was an unforgettable experience that will last a lifetime. We look forward to all of our trips back, cherishing the memories of our engagement!
We both are very strong in our faith, stronger than we ever have been before. We strive to push each other to be our best selves and to live the Christ life as close as we can. We put God first and foremost in anything that we do, both individually and as a couple.
We are currently doing ministry together at Sandy Ridge. We are part of the youth director team. Our prayer is that we can be a Godly example of how to live and date for the middle and high schoolers that we teach.
